Dow Corning at SAE 2015 World Congress: Presents EA-7100 Adhesive for Automotive Electronics
Dow Corning, one of the global leaders in silicones, silicon-based technology and innovation, introduces new Dow Corning EA-7100 Adhesive at the SAE 2015 World Congress (booth 507) a breakthrough silicone chemistry that greatly expands design options for automotive electronics by enabling strong bonds to a wide variety of substrates. This one-part, heat-cure adhesive also cures rapidly and at lower temperatures from the "inside out" to greatly accelerate processing, lower energy use and reduce material costs.
"Building on decades of innovation for advanced automotive electronics, our new EA-7100 Adhesive material signals a significant step forward in silicone technology and an important addition to our industry-leading portfolio of high-performance adhesives," said Brice Le Gouic, global marketing manager for Transportation Electronics, Dow Corning. "Formulated with patented new silicone chemistry, EA-7100 Adhesive offers significantly broader latitudes when designing next-generation control units, sensors, lighting and display modules targeting today’s increasingly demanding automotive underhood applications."
Notably, new EA-7100 Adhesive forms strong bonds to metals, ceramics, glass and laminates, as well as plastics that have typically presented challenges for conventional silicone, such as polyethylene, polycarbonate and acetal. Depending on application, the material can often bond to these substrates without requiring pre-treatment or extensive cleaning. This unique property, combined with the material’s low voiding and durable adhesion, enables automotive manufacturers to design components using an expanded range of more cost-effective materials.
